Entering the highly demanding UK market presents a significant challenge for Polish manufacturers of aluminium windows and doors. Success requires not only advanced technological expertise, but also full compliance with stringent local standards.

At the same time, British contractors are increasingly seeking innovative solutions from Poland that combine outstanding thermal performance with the highest safety standards. Responding to the needs of its business partners, Aluron has successfully completed the certification process for its ATF 50 façade system, earning the prestigious CWCT certification (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology).

Rigorous testing: from aircraft engine simulation to water jet testing

The certification tests were carried out at the accredited laboratory in England. CWCT requirements are considerably more demanding than the European EN 13830 standard, as they are designed to simulate the extreme weather conditions typical of the British markets. For the testing process, a large-scale model measuring 8,000 mm in height and 7,200 mm in width (with a total surface area of approximately 55 m2). Over several consecutive days, the ATF 50 façade was subjected to a series of rigorous tests, including:

  • Dynamic watertightness testing using an aircraft engine propeller to generate powerful wind gusts combined with water spray.
  • Water jet testing to assess leakage resistance at the most critical structural points.
  • Wind resistance testing, with safety performance confirmed at peak pressures of ±3600 Pa.
  • Impact resistance testing, where the ATF system achieved impressive safety classifications of I5 and E5.

All of the aforementioned stages, from the air permeability test to the post-disassembly inspection, were successfully completed. The tests also examined the possibility of integrating aluminum windows, such as those based on the AS 75OW, into the façade.

The CWCT certification confirms the system's readiness for operation in the harshest climates. This allows local British manufacturers and all other companies exporting to these markets to offer their customers a complete façade that can be combined with the typically British AS 75OW windows.

ATF 50: advanced thermal efficiency and simplified installation

The ATF 50 is a single-profile mullion-transom façade system developed for modern, energy-efficient construction projects. One of its key strengths is its exceptional thermal insulation performance, achieving a Ucw value of 0.5 W/m²K, placing it among the leading façade solutions currently available on the market.

This outstanding performance has been achieved in part through the innovative design of the panel mounting socket, which is recessed into the interior of the profile. The application of “mullion-mullion” technology also delivers substantial material optimisation benefits for manufacturers while simplifying prefabrication processes and reducing installation time on-site. In addition, the system offers extensive architectural flexibility, including the ability to create both internal and external façade curves, along with a wide range of decorative finishing options.

Strengthening Aluron’s position in the UK market

The successful certification of the ATF 50 façade system represents another milestone in Aluron’s long-term development strategy for the UK market. In December last year, the AS 75OW outward-opening window system also successfully passed testing at UL Solutions.

Developed specifically for the British and Irish markets, the AS 75OW system features outward-opening windows that, under strong wind pressure, force the sash more tightly against the frame, ensuring exceptional airtightness. The AS 75OW system features outward-opening windows that, under strong wind pressure, force the sash more tightly against the frame, ensuring exceptional airtightness. The system delivers an impressive thermal insulation coefficient (U-value) of 0.81 W/m²K, together with the highest classifications for watertightness and wind load resistance. The sash profile has been engineered with separate fixing points for scissor hinges and perimeter hardware, allowing the use of a shorter, more functional, and cost-effective spindle handle solution.

With both certified systems now included in its portfolio, Aluron and its partners are well positioned to deliver comprehensive solutions for large-scale projects across the UK market.
