Burglar resistance classes are most often referred to in the case of window and door structures. However, it should not be forgotten that these are not the only partitions exposed to burglars. The glass facades of buildings are equally exposed to their efforts.

It is therefore also worth taking care of their safety and choosing systems with the highest security class, such as Aluron facades.

What is anti-burglary?

Although we all wish it were otherwise, no structure, regardless of the material it is made of, can completely guarantee our security. If burglars use the right tools and have enough time at their disposal, sooner or later they will break through any barrier. The task of burglar-proof structures is therefore to keep the criminals out long enough for them to be deterred from further action or for the appropriate intervention group (police or security) to arrive. In accordance with the requirements of EN 1627:2021-11, a system of six burglar-proof classes has been developed, ranging from RC1 to RC6. The last two classes are mainly used in financial institutions and establishments, such as banks.

How are burglar-proof facades constructed?

In the case of burglar-proof facades, as well as other such partitions, insulating glass units made of toughened glass and special films are used. In this way, if burglars damage the glass panes, they will still form a coherent surface despite being shattered. Thus, they will delay the intrusion inside. In addition, a special adhesive and sealing compound is used at the interface between the profile and the glazing package to make it difficult to push the glass into the building.

Test results for Aluron facade systems

A test of the intrusion resistance of all Aluron facade systems took place at the TL Property Security Laboratory of the Łukasiewicz Research Network of the Warsaw Institute of Technology: AF 50, AF 50S, AF 50EI. A 50 kg pendulum striker was used to test the design variants, followed by hand tools including a crowbar. Despite this, the partitions were not forced through in less than five minutes. Aluron facade systems have thus gained the RC2 and RC3 burglary protection classes.
